Brand spanking new press release!
Pot of Trix is an interactive theatre company that aims to teach primary school children about sustainable farming, healthy eating, and growing their own vegetables. However, this is no ordinary educational performance! Pot of Trix performances bring the nostalgic characters of Beatrix Potter to life, and take place outdoors, usually on small farms, so that the audience are completely immersed in the production. Our story follows Squirrel Nutkin on his quest for a lost stash of nuts; Peter Rabbit, Mrs Tiggywinkle, Farmer McGregor and Beatrix Potter herself all join together (with the audience of course) to help their furry friend find his food. Along the way, the audience encounter many activities – they make bunny ears, learn about healthy eating, and plant their own vegetable seed. Every child leaves the performance with their very own Pot of Trix goody bag filled with mementoes of the performance and a postcard to send back to Beatrix once they get home.
Pot of Trix is new to the West Midlands, having only previously performed in Devon. The company was set up by five drama graduates from the University of Exeter, all very passionate about creating children’s theatre that is educational and immersive. We are fully committed to our message of sustainability and healthy eating. All Pot of Trix props and costumes are either handmade, recycled or second-hand, and we aim to collaborate with other eco-friendly organisations.
Pot of Trix are hoping to perform for two types of audiences. We would love to arrange school trips for groups of primary school children. Also, we will arrange performances for families to attend at the weekends or in school holidays. Our productions would also be a really unique idea for parties – perfect for birthdays or other celebrations. Our current plan is to perform from May 2014, but if you would like to arrange a performance before then, please get in touch!
If you would like to book a Pot of Trix performance, particularly as a school trip or group visit, we really look forward to hearing from you. Our hire fees are very reasonable, and can be negotiated dependent upon the size of the audience. Pot of Trix anticipate that our first family performance will take place in early June 2014. However, we are still on the hunt for a venue for these performances. Any small farm, ideally with indoor and outdoor areas, would be suitable. If you happen to be a farm owner, looking for extra publicity and happy to let small children dressed as bunnies hop around your land, please get in touch!
Please take a look at our blog, potoftrixtheatre.wordpress.com, for further information and pictures of our previous productions. If you have any questions or are interested in booking a performance, please email me at email@example.com. Pot of Trix hope to see you on the farm soon!
